Introducing SolderJaw CSJ-1
The CSJ-1 is a patent-pending design to solve the problem of holding one or more components in place while soldering. The device securely holds printed circuit boards (PCBs) and custom circuit boards. Using its conforming membrane, the top conforming plate conforms around any components on the board, securing them in place as the device is turned over for soldering.
Component Versatility
- Through-hole
- Surface mount
- IC's
- Pin headers
- Resistors
- etc.
The SolderJaw CSJ-1 adapts seamlessly to both through-hole and surface mount components, offering unparalleled versatility. Whether you're working on a solderable breadboard or a custom PCB, the CSJ-1's innovative design ensures a secure hold without the hassle of bulky vises or flimsy helping hand devices.
Board Compatibility
- 4.75 x 2.75 inch boards
- 1 inch tall components
The base plate features a sliding clamp that securely holds boards measuring 4.75 inches long and 2.75 inches wide, accommodating most standard-sized PCB boards and solderable breadboards. The conforming membrane is 0.75 inches thick and can deform around comments that have 0.5 inches of height variation between them.
Built to Last
The CSJ-1 is primarily made from lightweight, scratch-resistant anodized 5052 aluminum with Type II anodization, finished in black. The sliding clamp and jaws are made from carbon fiber reinforced ASA, and the fasteners and thumb screw are made from black oxide steel.
The conformable membrane is made from a durable, high-temperature silicon to allow for continued use even when contacting heated components from soldering. The pads are easy to remove and replace, and are reversible, so holding comments securely is no longer a hassle.

Using the Conforming SolderJaw CSJ-1

Disassemble the conforming plate from the base plate by unscrewing the two adjacent thumbscrews on the conforming plate

Place the solderable breadboard or printed circuit board PCB on the right-most jaw first to align it with the base plate

Slide the left jaw into place, and while holding tension with your left thumb, tighten the clamp thumbscrew to secure the PCB in place

Reattach the conforming plate by aligning the thumbscrews with the features in the base plate and tightening either until the assembly bottoms out, or until you have made contact with all of the desired components

Finally, flip the assembly over to solder the through-hole components with ease
